Self-Advocacy Services

Rainbow Club

Self-Advocates provide each other with peer support and self advocacy training. They address issues such as community access, human and civil rights and how to be a good citizen. Training topics include assertiveness training, using community services, voting, how government works, self-advocacy and successful social relationships.

Individuals served by CHS are encouraged to advocate on their own behalf, including educating each other about rights and responsibilities and mutually supporting each other as part of the oldest operating self advocacy group in Massachusetts, the Rainbow Club. Rainbow Club participants also plan their own weekly social and community activities with the support of a part time CHS support staff person. They have organized an Explorer's Club, a Walking Club, as well as, community events, social gatherings and cultural activities.
